Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data TailoredReaders (operated by TailoredReaders, “we”, “us”) collects when you join our pre-launch waitlist, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. If you have any questions, contact us at privacy@tailoredreaders.com.
1. Who we are
TailoredReaders is a service that generates illustrated bilingual storybooks for language learners. For the purposes of data-protection law, the data controller is TailoredReaders, 1 Simmons St, Auckland, New Zealand. You can reach us about privacy at privacy@tailoredreaders.com.
2. What data we collect
At this pre-launch stage we collect only what you give us through the waitlist form:
- Your email address.
- A signup source label (for example, “prelaunch-landing”) so we know where you signed up.
- Basic technical data that any web request includes, such as your IP address, which our email provider uses transiently for spam and rate-limit protection.
We do not ask for your name, payment details, or any other information at this stage, and this site does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
3. How we use your data
We use your email address to:
- Add you to our waitlist and let you know when TailoredReaders launches;
- Send occasional updates about our progress toward launch.
We will not use your email for unrelated marketing, and we will never sell it.
4. Our basis for processing
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, we collect your email for the purpose of operating the waitlist and telling you when TailoredReaders launches, as described above. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, our lawful basis under the UK/EU GDPR is your consent, which you give by submitting the waitlist form. Either way, you can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time (see Your rights), and doing so is as easy as giving it.
5. Who we share it with
We use Loops (loops.so) as our email service provider to store waitlist contacts and send launch emails. Loops processes your data on our behalf as a data processor under our instructions. You can read how they handle data in the Loops Privacy Policy.
We do not share your data with any other third parties except where required by law.
6. International transfers
Loops is based in the United States, so your email address may be stored and processed outside your home country, including outside New Zealand, the UK, and the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses under our Data Processing Agreement with Loops.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your email on the waitlist until TailoredReaders launches and for a reasonable period afterwards, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it — whichever comes first. When you unsubscribe or request deletion, we remove your contact from Loops.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you;
- Correct data that is inaccurate;
- Delete your data (“right to erasure”);
- Withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time;
- Object to or restrict how we process your data;
- Lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority: in New Zealand, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner; in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office; or your local authority elsewhere in the EEA.
Which of these apply depends on where you live: New Zealand residents have rights of access and correction under the Privacy Act 2020, while individuals in the UK and EEA have the fuller set of rights above under the GDPR. To exercise any of them, email us at privacy@tailoredreaders.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
9. Unsubscribing
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link that removes you from the list immediately. If you signed up but have not yet received an email and want to be removed, email us at privacy@tailoredreaders.com and we will delete your contact.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product develops — for example, when we launch accounts and billing. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will let waitlist subscribers know by email.
